The week of July 6-9th!
Tuesday was a great day. Well it started off seemingly great anyway. My friend Cara and her son Miguel had planned an awesome day. This included a ride on the Ft Worth miniature train which goes for about 5 miles each way around the Trinity River here in Dallas/Ft Worth. However, after I woke Jackson up from his morning beauty sleep we drove all the way down to Ft Worth and the sign read CLOSED on TUESDAY! WHAT?!? My 3yr old thinks he's going on a train ride and you're closed??? Oh and we drove an hour to do this and you're closed even though your online calendar specifically said you are OPEN today?? UGH! Well disaster avoided (almost). We decided that since we were literally in Fort Worth Zoo's backyard we would just venture inside there. Cara said she had never been there before so off we went. Problem was we were there 45 minutes before the Zoo opened. Well I have to say the boys were more than patient in waiting. However, after about 1.5 hours there we were all MELTING, it was SOOO humid and about 90 degrees. So off we went to eat and cool off in some AC. For those Dallas/Ft worth natives, there is this burger place right down the street from the Zoo called Kincaid's. We decided to get in there and get some good grub, they have been rated the best burger for 8 years now. Cara agreed and everyone was happy! Overall, a pretty good day even though it didn't exactly fit to plan!
Here are some pics of Jackson being a ham for Cara!
Wednesday was another low key day due to the weather. It's been so off for July so we haven't been swimming a whole lot and I think Jackson and I both miss it as it wears him out and makes me happy to get some "down" time when he naps! In any case, we went to Pump it Up with Cara and her kiddos again. It was fun and well Jackson can't ever get enough of that place!! We love free play!
Thursday was another play date inside this time with our friends Katy and her twin boys Gavin and Brayden. Jackson loves playing with them as well so we went and headed over to the Galleria play area. We played had lunch and then came home, pretty uneventful but fun!
Friday, today was another fun day. I caught up with an old friend from Dell who just found out she's pregnant with twins! How exciting! Jackson was on his best behavior and was told that if he behaved and ate all of his food he would get to go to the "IPOD" store aka Apple store. He loves to play with all the devices that they have out for trial, it's his favorite pastime. We also went and got his hairs cut. I wanted to do something a little cooler since it's been so sticky and hot here this summer so we opted for a little faux hawk. Very cute!
Well that was our short modified week, stay tuned for next week, sure to be more exciting!! :)
July 4th weekend
I'll go ahead and combine from Saturday the 3rd through Monday the 5th.
We had a fun/family filled weekend, for the most part.
It didn't start out as planned. We had planned and bought tickets for the Frisco Rough Riders, a local triple A team here but it was just a constant rain Friday night and so they canceled the game. This ruined Jackson's mood until my clever hubby suggested ice cream, yes the magical words. Suddenly our frowns were turned upside down and we made a stop by our local ice cream shop, Double Dip.
Saturday was a lazy day yet again due to the rain. Jeff started smoking a brisket for a party we were invited to on the 4th and we just hung out and played and watched some movies. The upside was that night when we went and parked out by the Frisco soccer fields and watched some awesome fireworks. Jackson kept asking to see "star wars" and for the life of Jeff and I we could NOT figure out why he suddenly wanted to watch star wars?? Well then he said yes the lights in the sky, "star wars". haha! Funny kid, you mean fireworks? Oh yes, "fire wars!!"
Sunday was a great day, we were invited to one of Jeff's old college buddies house, the Carrington's. They have a nice pool and invited a few other families over as well, it was fun.
Jeff brought our two briskets that he smoked for 20 hours on Saturday through Sunday morning and some ice cold drinks! Jackson was in heaven with the pool and the trampoline and an over abundance of young kiddos mostly all boys for once! We had a great time with friends!
Monday was a great lazy day as well. Just caught up on our lack up sleep from Sunday night and hung out and relaxed. We had a late lunch and cleaned the house and mowed the lawn. Overall it was a nice relaxing weekend, too bad it rained so much but I know we definitely needed it!
Here's a great picture of how the weekend ended, God's promise!
Friday's Playdate with Old and New Friends!
Well this past Friday (7/2) was something special! A blast from the past old high school friend who lives in Aubrey met up with us for some playtime and lunch at Gattitown here in Frisco! She has an almost 3yr old little girl named Bella Rue, who is just PRECIOUS! Jackson loved playing with her and they had some fun on the carousel and playing in general. We went to Stonebriar Mall afterwards and again they chased and ran around with one another and seemed to enjoy each others company.
It was great to catch up with Sara and relive all of our old high school memories and catch up on others. We will definitely be hanging out again, what a great time!
