Jackson and the train

Last night we went to eat at Babe's Fried Chicken. Always so good.
The location in Frisco is right next to the Frisco Heritage Museum which also houses an old railroad track and as we were coming out of the restaurant a huge train was passing right outside. Well there was already a little boy sitting outside mesmerized by the train so of course my son had to join in on the action.
I tried to get the best shot possible with my phone but as you can imagine between trying to capture an excited 3yr old following a train and a fast moving train you'll see what I ended up with!
Anyway just another simple pleasure of a 3yr olds life, I want to remember this for when we are at age 17 and oh so many other interesting obstacles I'm sure!!! :) Enjoy!

Neighborhood Night out and more fun...

I believe most neighborhoods national night out was supposed to be on August 3rd. However, with the 100+ temps outside no one in their right mind wants to stand outside and socialize with their neighbors and risk the fact they may have a heat stroke. SO, that being said we as a neighborhood came up with the bright idea of delaying our "night out" and make it an all day affair or half a day is more like it. Two of our party planners came up with the bright idea of having a pool party/night out at our community pool in our neighborhood this past weekend. It was really nice, there was food, music, drinks and best of all a somewhat cool pool to take a dip in when it started getting overly hot. With this pool party/night out ordeal also came the benefits of having young children entertained with games, a bounce house and a Frisco firetruck complete with real firemen and all the gear inside the fire truck, helmets, gear, radio and steering wheel!!
Overall a great day/night was had, we closed down the party with a few of our friends while the kids entertained one another and wore each other OUT!!!

Swimming Pictures!!

So last week "our" photographer who I LOVE and who we have used since Jackson was 1, sent out an email saying she was taking swimming photos in Frisco last Wednesday. I say "our"photographer not in the literal sense but in the sense that she has been our only photographer we have used b/c she's incredibly blessed with her creativity and capturing us a family.
Anyway, she took some planned the "mini session" last Wednesday at a family's house here in Frisco about 5 minutes away it was PERFECT! We met up at the families house along with other families where our photographer photographed Jackson and I and another family in segments of 30 minutes each. I really wanted to capture Jackson's swimming ability this summer b/c he's really gained leaps and bounds in the pool and has a LOT of confidence. He is swimming underwater a good 30-40 ft to me and Jeff and will also dive for his Toy story toys (buzz, woody, and the alien) without any problems. Here are some of the pictures she captured, she will send the rest after they're edited.

Like Father like Son!

Playing Wii. Don't look at Jeff's place (12th) he's taking over Jackson's game...lol!

Just a quick, fun post about father and son and oh so many way they can bond.
Yes, I guess this is just a quick preview of what lies ahead!!!
Oh well, at least I can prepare, right? :)
I captured this the other night and thought it was a perfect moment to capture!

Birthday!

Yep, he's my kid!

Yummy chocolate cake from Whole Foods!!

Me and J blowing out the candles!
I really shouldn't do a post about my birthday since I'm only getting older, however, I have to b/c it was such a nice surprise!
My sweet sweet neighbors had J and I over to swim in their brand new pool and added to the awesomeness by providing a cake, snacks and mimosas!! What a nice surprise!!
Jackson had fun as always swimming, playing with his buddies and closing down the party by being the last little boy in the pool!
Nina, Katy, Kari, and Erin were so gracious to come and celebrate my 33rd birthday with me and allow us to have such a GREAT morning!!
Here are a few pics, I'll upload more later, what a truly great day!
Jeff ended the day by having me choose to go eat at one of my favorite little hole in the wall mexican restaurants that I love-Herrera's!! YUM!! Can't complain, it was a great day!

Oh yeah, one more thing on the way to our neighbors an old school rap song came on the radio from my high school days and obviously a little man seemed to take to it..enjoy the pic above, yes, he's my son.

Frisco Roughriders Game!

A fuzzy picture of some post game fireworks!

Enjoying his first taste of cotton candy. Not a big hit but had to try it!

Finally! A Roughriders baseball game! I've lived here for almost 4 years and have yet to attend a roughriders baseball game here in Frisco. It's a minor league baseball team but since it's in Frisco and SO close to our house there really isn't a good reason to have not been to a game yet. Unless you want to consider having an infant and extreme heat as good excuses? :) In any case we decided to go on Friday the 23rd of July a day after my birthday. It was a good continued post birthday celebration. We tried to go previously in earlier July but it was rained out, so we used this credit to attend this nights game. It was SO fun. Jackson had a blast which we knew he would, he loved watching the boys play ball as he says it. We had seats along the 1st base line but of course a 3yr old is never satisfied-he would rather sit in the grass along the outfield lines and walk around, go figure!
The really cool thing about Friday night games are the fireworks immediately after! Really cool and really LOUD. Jackson LOVED them though, it was a great end to a good game, even though we lost to the Corpus Christi Hooks by one run. OH well, just another excuse to attend another game and bring them better luck next time!

Jackson's first trip to the dentist and swimming!

Flashing his fave smile while holding his little martian toy from Toy Story

Getting his Xrays!

I decided it was finally time to venture out to the old dentist for Mr. J. It was pretty uneventful for the most part, however, I did choose an AWESOME dentist that he LOVED! It helped that the hygienist who was more than helpful and patient with Jackson. He did so well overall and really had no fuss the whole time we were there, now I will admit that they had plenty of entertainment for him including Wii, XBOX, plenty of toys and cartoons. He did have a little cavity but other than that, the dentist said his teeth looked awesome and said that cavity was so tiny that they could only see it on the Xray so no treatment necessary. We will just continue to floss and use our flouride toothpaste and fancy new toothbrush!

Later that day, he was such a good boy we had a treat for lunch and then napped and then went swimming. He is becoming quite the little fish this summer. He can dive for his buzz, woody and alien dive toys with his goggles on and can jump in and swim a really good distance to me! We will definitely have to keep this up during the cooler months, I can't let him lose his momentum!

A Promise

So the other day as Jackson and I were out getting some last minute dinner there had been some thunder clouds roll over our house but not ever really raining. As we pulled into the shopping strip where we were going to pickup some dinner I saw a beautiful sight! What a beautiful double rainbow! It hadn't even rained and there was this gorgeous vibrant DOUBLE rainbow that took my breath away. Jackson also noticed it and commented on all the colors and counted "TWO rainbows mommy!" Made me have a little proud mommy moment while also witnessing the never forgotten promise from God, truly made my night!
Genesis 9:12-16
And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:
13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."
